Time management

I am in the process of going through the basics to start my blog. I am introducing what I want to do for my A2, and saying what my strength and weaknesses were for my AS. This will allow me to work on the areas that needed improvement and look at how I can make my A2 work better. I am going to start to create a moldboard of my initial ideas before I go into more detail about different conventions I all use and why. 

Mood board

First of all I am going to make a mood board on what culture actually is, just to give myself an understanding of what I can actually include because I don't want to make it bored, I want to narrow it down to a few perspectives.  I will do this through PowerPoint to make my brain storm easy to understand and accessible. 

The definition of culture is the idea, customs and social behaviour of a certain group. So Sunderland has its own culture and I am going to explore that in more detail in the areas above. It involves the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement. 

I am going to create a mood board of what culture is like in Sunderland (which is my region). This will help me get an idea of what contents I can include in my magazine. These picture will be from different parts of Sunderland that can relate and show culture within our region. Sunderland recently launched its bid for UK city of culture 2021 in the recent development of Keel Square in the city centre. The city centre is a stone’s throw from miles of stunning coastline, both Roker and Seaburn beaches have been nationally recognised among the best beaches in the country in the national Seaside Awards 2015.

This will appeal young women of a varied age range.

Reflecting on my previous blog, I feel that a mood board helps to elaborate on your ideas. You can look at images which are likely to be included in my work, and then use it as inspiration for my own ideas.

Like my AS front cover, I want to create a very simplistic design, as the regional magazines I have looked at also go for that layout. When I look into research, I will gather ideas on what I could use for my own work. The sorts of content I want to use includes places, music, fashion. Anything that Sunderland has to offer regarding these factors. 

AS reflection

How it went: Overall I think that I developed my skills really well through new sources such as Photoshop, using apple mac computers and using a HD Canon camera. I am quite happy with the outcome of my front cover, double page spread and contents page, even though they could have has some small improvements. 

Strengths: I feel like my design fit really well with each other regarding my color scheme etc. I also think that my blog was detailed but I maybe could have added more relevant points. this will help me develop my skills further onto A2, and I can now see what sort of detail it needs to be in.

Weaknesses: I feel like my designs did turn out good, but I could have improved the layout of them more to make them look more professional like. 

Plans for A2: For my second year, I want to be a lot more organized with my research and planning. I feel like I ran out of time for a part of my as coursework. I plan to be more motivated and do my work to the best of my ability. 

Proposal

Hi, welcome to my A2 blog. I will use this to record and save all of my coursework for my second year. I am going to be following my design brief. 

Creative brief
The first four pages from an original regional magazine (if done as a group task, each member of the group to produce and individual edition to the magazine, following the same house style), together with the following:

• two hyperlinked pages from the magazines website;
• a billboard advertisement for the magazine.

For this second year, i am going to be a lot more organised and manage my work sustainably in order for it to be well presented.
